There has been an increase in cases of Meningococcal group W (MenW) and in response to this we have been asked by Welsh Govenment to offer vaccination to all current school year 13 (September 2014 – August 2015) age patients. With particular priority to patients in this group who are about to attend University in October 2015.
Patients with a date of birth 1/9/1996 to 31/8/1997 will be invited to attend the surgery to receive a vaccination called MenACWY. However, we are unable to identify patients who will be going to University. We would urge patients in this instance to contact us to arrange vaccination rather than wait for the invitation letter.
In addition, any patient aged under 25 years, going to University for the first time may be eligible for vaccination of MenACWY. These patients should contact the surgery for an appointment with the Practice Nurse to discuss vaccination.
