Diabetes Annual Review

There are 2 main types of diabetes:

Type 1 Diabetes where the body’s immune system attacks and destroys the cells that produce insulin.  There are no lifestyle changes that can be made to prevent this type of Diabetes.

Type 2 Diabetes where the body does not produce enough insulin, or the body’s cells do not react to insulin.  90% of adults with diabetes have type 2 Diabetes.   You can however manage Type 2 Diabetes through healthy eating, regular exercise and maintaining a healthy body weight (BMI).

An annual review with our Practice Nurse will keep a check on your diabetic control to monitor progression of the disease and further complications.  Ongoing checks of your eyes and feet are also important as are early intervention of wounds.

We are currently developing a questionnaire; in the meantime you will be invited to attend your annual review with the Practice Nurse in the month of your birthday.
