On 21 November Welsh Government is due to announce that the Welsh GP Record will be available for elective (scheduled) care in addition to emergency (unscheduled) care.
This means that for the first time a copy of a patient’s GP record will be available for:
- All inpatient hospital clinical teams involved in the direct care of the patient.
- Secondary care pharmacy technicians involved in the direct care of the patient.
- Clinical teams involved in the direct care of the patient in an outpatient setting.
To ensure patients are aware of changes in the way their information is shared for their care, the announcement will be followed by an awareness campaign focused on social media and a new website
